What drew you to entrepreneurship?
What drew me to entrepreneurship was my ambition to translate my PhD research into real-world impact by turning advanced academic work into practical solutions. No one in my family is an entrepreneur, but I have always been creative, whether in research, work, or everyday life, and that creativity naturally pushed me toward building something meaningful through entrepreneurship.
What problem are you solving, and what is your unique approach?
RenXera addresses the critical challenge faced by businesses, homeowners, and communities who want to invest in renewable energy but lack clear, affordable, and actionable guidance. Current tools are often too expensive, too technical, inaccessible, and lacking in innovation, resulting in delayed, undersized, or financially unsuccessful projects. Our unique approach combines innovation with data-driven analytics, precision, open-source software, and consulting to simplify complex energy decisions. Through our platform, SAMA, users can design, size, and optimize hybrid renewable energy systems with location-specific data, forecast ROI and IRR, and even participate in blockchain-enabled peer-to-peer energy trading. Unlike closed, costly alternatives, Renxera delivers open, flexible, and future-ready solutions that transform advanced research into profitable, practical outcomes.
How did you come across this problem, and why did it appeal to you?
I came across this problem through my Ph.D. research, where I studied the optimal design and operation of renewable energy systems. I realized that while the academic community has developed powerful models and tools, most of them never reach the people who need them most: businesses, homeowners, and communities. This gap between advanced research and real-world application appealed to me deeply; because it showed an opportunity to translate my work into something practical, accessible, and impactful.
What are you hoping to accomplish for your start-up at the Western Accelerator?
At the Western Accelerator, I aim to launch the demo of our software, gain mentorship to refine our business strategy, and connect with potential customers and investors. This will help validate our product in the market, accelerate adoption, and position RenXera for sustainable growth.
What is the biggest lesson you've learned so far during your time at the Western Accelerator?
The biggest lesson I have learned is that having an innovative idea is not enough; you cannot just wait for people to come to you. You need to go out, actively seek opportunities, and constantly engage with people. Building a strong business means talking, networking, and sharing your vision to create real momentum. As I like to say: Innovation is the spark, but action creates momentum.
