Maker Spaces

Our maker spaces are creative playgrounds where ideas take shape and innovation comes to life. They are open to students across all Western University faculties, and training and supplies are provided.

Sabourin Family Foundation Maker Space

The Sabourin Maker Space is equipped with a Tool Library that includes state-of-the-art equipment for woodworking, and metalworking, including traditional shop tools and machines, table saw, band saw, hand tools, CNC machine, and vinyl cutter.

Digital Maker Space

The digital maker space will include 3D printers, laser cutters, water cutters, and sewing machines, which will help students work on prototypes for product ideas. Training and supplies are accessible to all students at Western University.

The Spaghetti Stack-Off

The Spaghetti Stack-Off is a fun, hands-on workshop designed to introduce entrepreneurs and makers to the principles of prototyping, collaboration, and design thinking. Participants will use simple materials like spaghetti, marshmallows, string and tape to build the tallest freestanding structure possible. This workshop encourages creativity, problem-solving, teamwork, and an iterative approach to prototyping, making it ideal for all students.

Bob Ross Style and Brand – “Happy Little Trees” : Honoring Art and Generosity

Students will learn to use oil on canvas to create their own masterpieces inspired by London's Thames River. Honouring the spirit of Bob Ross and his creative approach, this workshop is made possible through the generosity of the Sabourin Family Foundation, dedicated to fostering creativity, community, and art. An exhibition will follow where students can proudly showcase their finished works.
