Andrew Rae, BSc'89

Over the past three decades, Andrew Rae has held roles of increasing responsibility as a senior biotechnology executive (including CEO, CFO, CBO and VP roles), board member and investor. Andrew’s board roles have included the Simon Fraser Beedie School of Business (Dean’s External Advisory Board), Covenant House Vancouver, a local charity tackling youth homelessness, and several publicly listed companies. Andrew is also a member of Western's "All In" Campaign Cabinet.

Recognition as a CEO in the biopharmaceutical industry has included a BIOTECanada Gold Leaf Award for Early Stage Company of the Year, Pacific Finalist – Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year (Canada), and the TSX Venture 50 Award (Top Company Technology & Life Sciences).

Andrew’s ‘deal sheet’ includes partnerships with AstraZeneca, Ionis Pharmaceuticals, Alexion Pharmaceuticals, and JDRF, the leading global foundation focusing on type 1 diabetes research.

Prior to his operational experiences, Andrew served as Biotechnology Equities Analyst, Goepel Shields & Partners (now Raymond James Canada).

Andrew's degrees include an Honours BSc. from Western and an MBA from Simon Fraser University.
