Meet Muhammad Muneeb Ur Rehman of CarbFarm.

CarbFarm empowers and incentivizes farmers to implement regenerative agriculture through carbon credits.

What drew you to entrepreneurship?

I have always been creative. I have worked in media and marketing for over five years and learned much from working across different industries and fields. But what intrigues me the most is research, sports, and sustainability. My education, skillset, and readiness to take on and solve problems have led me to co-found CarbFarm.

Elaborate on your business venture. What problem are you solving, and what is your unique approach?

As global food demand rises, 1/3 of the world's agricultural soils are degraded. Only 19% of Ontario farmers implement full-scale regenerative practices to enhance their soil. CarbFarm empowers and incentivizes farmers to implement regenerative agriculture through carbon credits.

How did you encounter this problem, and why did it appeal to you?

CarbFarm, founded in 2024 by three students at the Ivey School of Business at Western University, aims to advance regenerative agriculture in Canada. We’re a group of students from different fields of study who care about the future of farming. We are currently focused on finding the best practices that store more carbon and build healthier soil so farmers can get more out of their land.

What are you hoping to accomplish for your start-up at ESI?

Goal 1: Have farmers, contracts, supplies, and labour ready for the pilot test

Goal 2: Identify the right online and in-person communication channels with farmers and engage in community outreach and building

Goal 3: Marketing platform investment into video content

Goal 4: Identify, apply, and score government grants/funding stipends

Goal 5: Discuss scaling and monetizing more revenue streams

When you need a dose of inspiration, do you have a favourite song to play?

Clint Eastwood by Gorillaz

Do you have a quote or book that inspires you, or encapsulates your entrepreneurship journey?

“The moment. Stop regretting the past and fearing the future. Today is all you have. Make the most of it. Make it with remembering.

- Ikigai, Garcia & Miralles 2017
